Week two on the #RoadToHLTH has been nothing short of inspiring and insightful. Our journey took us through DC, Atlantic City, NJ, and NYC. From masterclasses to strolls in the park, we've gathered a wealth of knowledge, memories, and experiences. Let's dive into the highlights from each stop!

🚊 Destination: DC –Civitas Conference

The Heart of Patient Engagement - Unconference Session at Civitas

We were part of an enlightening 'unconference' session focused on patient education and engagement. Key takeaways:

  1. Patient empowerment is paramount in today's healthcare landscape.

  2. Tailored education strategies can significantly improve patient outcomes.

  3. Actively engaging patients in their health journey creates more resilient healthcare ecosystems.

🌟 Spotlight on Grace Cordovano: A Beacon for Patient Advocacy

We'd be remiss if we didn't take a moment to shine a light on the remarkable work being done by Grace Cordovano. As a steadfast patient advocate, Grace continuously amplifies the voices of those often left unheard in healthcare conversations. Through her company, Unblock Health, she champions the need for transparent, accessible data sharing, underscoring the critical importance of timely information access for all patients. The world of health data can be intricate and convoluted, but with dedicated advocates like Grace at the helm, the path to simplicity becomes clearer. We're inspired by her tireless efforts to reshape and better the patient experience.

Unpacking Health Data Utility

The Health Data Utility Masterclass, led by Jaime Bland, Dr. Tom Evans, and Sarah Reisetter, spotlighted the transformative power of actionable health data. The session emphasized the enduring value of data over fleeting tech trends, championing "coopetition" – collaboration over competition. A clarion call emerged: elevate healthcare through unified, transparent efforts and the seamless utility of impactful data.

DC Diary: Special Moments at the Capitol ️

In an unparalleled experience, I was granted special permission to record a podcast within the iconic confines of our nation’s Capitol. My esteemed guest? None other than Andrea Fletcher, the pioneering Executive Director of the Digital Service at the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). Renowned as a vanguard in governmental tech innovation, the Digital Service at CMS exemplifies progress and vision. This wasn't just another day at the office – it was monumental! As tokens of our meeting, we exchanged stickers, ushering CMS members into the #pinksocks tribe, a community devoted to kindness and connectivity. Truly an honor and a testament to the bridges we're building on this journey.

Destination: Atlantic City, NJ

A Delightful Rendezvous in Atlantic City with Roberta Mullin

In the iconic town that inspired the classic Monopoly game, I had the pleasure of reconnecting with an old friend and collaborator, Roberta Mullin from Healthcare Now Radio.

Destination: NYC - From Park Walks to Pitches

Stroll in Central Park

Rain or shine, champions adjust! This ethos was on full display as we strolled through Central Park. Even with a bit of rain, the experience was magical. Here, our custom graffiti hats made by N.Y.Ceve came to life - a symbol of inspiration, leadership, advocacy, and so much more!

🎤 Hot Pitches In The City

In our latest venture, we're thrilled to have collaborated with FINN Partners and Alex Fair of MedStartr on a unique event idea. As the HITLAG podcast grows in popularity with a flood of guest nominations, we launched the HIT Pitches in the City to democratize our guest selection. Despite the challenges of a tight schedule and an unexpected rainstorm, participants wowed us with their vision of healthcare problems and innovative solutions. Among the few daring to pitch, Gary Nix and Saumya Rawat emerged as finalists, with Saumya clinching the coveted guest spot on an upcoming podcast episode.
