As a critical care physician, Dr. Rawat experienced the frustration of locating proper care for her patients suffering from behavioral health conditions. As awareness around the opioid epidemic was taking hold, in 2015, the National Institute on Drug Abuse approached Dr. Rawat to partner to develop technology to service the opioid epidemic. That led to the development of OpenBeds®, a software platform that identifies and tracks behavioral health resources enabling providers to rapidly connect patients to treatment – improving access to care for crisis, mental health, and substance abuse disorder.
