Sigi shares the shocking statistics related to having a baby in the U.S., despite the $120 Billion we spend on maternity and infant care annually. She says:
"We are the worst country in the industrial world by which to have a child. People don't understand that every 10 minutes a baby or a mom get hurt in pregnancy or postpartum in the United States. We have 45,000 NICU admissions in the last month alone.
What are the issues? It has to do a lot with care access. We have maternity deserts all over the United States, where there is no OB/GYN or maternity ward to be found in miles and miles away."
